How Taara Light Beam Detector Looks like

Capabilities:

Technological Breakthroughs!

  • Speed and Capacity: Taara transmits data at speeds up to 20 Gbps over distances up to 20 km.
  • High Efficiency: Consumes only 40W of power per unit, making it energy efficient.
  • Low Cost: Provides a low total cost of ownership with quick and easy deployment.

How it Works:

Taara, a project by X (formerly Google X), is addressing this challenge using a revolutionary wireless optical communication (WOC) technology by Reimagining Connectivity.

Instead of cables, Taara uses beams of light to deliver high-speed, high-capacity connectivity over long distances, offering fiber-like speeds where laying fiber isn't feasible. This innovation bridges gaps over rivers, rugged terrains, and even across national parks.

Advantages of Taara’s Wireless Optical Communication (WOC) Technology

  • Rapid Deployment: Quickly set up without the need for extensive trenching or cabling.
  • High Resilience: Adapts to environmental changes, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity even in challenging conditions.
  • Scalability: Easily scalable to extend networks in urban and rural areas

Successful Deployments in Africa

Taara's technology is making significant strides in Africa, transforming connectivity:

  1. Congo River Project: In collaboration with Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Taara connected Brazzaville and Kinshasa, two cities separated by the Congo River. This innovative link has already delivered nearly 700 TB of data with 99.9% availability, drastically reducing the cost and improving internet access for millions.

  2. Kenya Roll-Out: Partnering with Econet Group, Taara's links are being deployed across Liquid Telecom’s networks in Kenya, providing high-speed internet in areas where fiber installation is challenging or unsafe. This initiative follows successful pilots and is set to enhance connectivity across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Arturs

If they combine it with WiFi 7 and shoot it on in a fraction of a second when a bird/obstacle flys in the path I'm all for it :) I want them in Latvia :) There is no other way an invisible laser array that can travel 20km is dangerous for the eyes.

Mkenya

Looks like they are finally hitting back on Huawei 5g... Either way let's see how it will be used to benefit humanity.
