Centenary of Progress: IMO Launches “Vision 100” Blueprint in Nairobi

NAIROBI, KENYA; 9th jan 2026 — In a landmark move that redefines the role of community-based organizations in national development, the International Memon Organization (IMO) – East Africa Chapter has officially unveiled Vision 100. This ambitious, century-long development framework aims to secure sustainable growth, dignity, and empowerment for the Memon community and its neighbors for the next 100 years.

The high-profile launch event, held at Memon Villa, was organized by Shahid Yakub, Vice President of the IMO East Africa Chapter. The gathering served as a powerful demonstration of the intersection between community responsibility and national policy.

A Convergence of National Leadership

The significance of the blueprint was underscored by the presence of Kenya’s top leadership. The Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, headlined the event as Chief Guest, signaling the government's recognition of the IMO’s long-term strategic planning.

Joining him were prominent figures including:

  • Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Health.

  • Members of Parliament and senior national leaders.

  • International delegates and representatives from inter-community organizations.
  • Mr. Shemir Yakub, Deputy President of IMO International

The presence of these leaders highlights a growing consensus: organized, self-sustaining communities are essential partners in achieving broader national goals in housing, healthcare, and economic stability.

The Eight Pillars of Vision 100

Vision 100 is not merely a philanthropic gesture but a structured, values-driven blueprint. It moves away from short-term "dependency" models, focusing instead on inter-generational continuity and system-based empowerment.

The framework is built upon eight strategic pillars:

  1. Housing with Dignity: Ensuring quality living standards for all.

  2. Education and 100% Literacy: A commitment to total academic and skill-based proficiency.

  3. Economic Empowerment: Prioritizing self-reliance over charitable dependency.

  4. Healthcare Access: Making medical services both affordable and accessible.

  5. Preservation of Culture & Language: Protecting the unique heritage of the Memon community.

  6. Community Outreach: Fostering collaboration with diverse external groups.

  7. Mental & Emotional Well-being: Addressing modern health challenges holistically.

  8. Resilience & Responsibility: Building a legacy of long-term community accountability.

A Global Model for National Growth

While rooted in the East African Memon community, international guests at the launch noted that Vision 100 serves as a replicable model for community-led development worldwide. The IMO leadership emphasized that this is a non-political initiative, designed to complement government efforts by creating a structured, responsible community that contributes actively to the national fabric.

"Vision 100 is rooted in responsibility, structure, and long-term planning," stated the IMO East Africa leadership. "It positions organized communities as constructive partners in national development."

The Road Ahead

Following the launch, the IMO will transition into the implementation phase. This will involve deep stakeholder engagement, structured consultations, and the rollout of pilot initiatives across the eight pillars.

Under the organization of Shahid Yakub and the wider IMO executive, the framework is set to evolve from a conceptual blueprint into a tangible roadmap for the next century of impact.
