Two Nairobi Events, One Common Purpose: Supporting Safer Futures for Women and Children

NAIROBI, KENYA — Domestic and sexual violence remain critical social challenges, but grassroots organizations like Agatha Amani House (AAH) are proving that real, lasting change starts with safe shelter, holistic support, and active community engagement.

This October, Agatha Amani House invites community members, business leaders, advocates, and change-makers across Nairobi to unite under the theme “Two Events. One Common Purpose.” Scheduled for October 22 and October 23, 2026, these complementary evenings are designed to foster open discussion, inspire meaningful connections, and equip participants with tangible ways to help build safer futures for women and children.

About Agatha Amani House (AAH)

Agatha Amani House was established to offer far more than immediate, temporary shelter. It provides a secure, nurturing environment where women and children fleeing sexual and domestic abuse can heal, rebuild, and secure their independence.

Recognizing that every survivor’s journey is unique, AAH tailors its intervention programs around individual circumstances. Its comprehensive model incorporates:

• Immediate Protection & Safety: Secure refuge away from danger.

• Psychosocial Support & Counseling: Guided trauma healing and mental well-being support for individuals and families.

• Education & Skills Development: Vocational training and practical skill-building to empower women to pursue employment or start small businesses.

• Long-Term Community Impact: Partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and mentors to ensure long-term self-sufficiency and break intergenerational cycles of violence and poverty.

Event Schedule: Two Nights, Two Unique Experiences, One Shared Goal

1. Coffee for a Cause

• Date: Thursday, 22 October 2026

• Time: 17:00 EAT

• Venue: Geco Café, Mbaazi Road, Lavington, Nairobi

• Focus: An accessible, casual community gathering introducing the mission of Agatha Amani House.

 

What to Expect:

• Meet fellow impact-minded community members in a relaxed setting.

• Participate in open conversations about the realities faced by survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

• Discover practical, everyday ways to support AAH's work.

 

2. Voices for a Change

• Date: Friday, 23 October 2026

• Time: 18:00 EAT

• Venue: Impact Hub Nairobi, Muthangari Road, Lavington

• Focus: A deeper, action-oriented dialogue exploring systemic solutions, survivor support, and multi-sector collaboration.

 

Core Pillars of Discussion:

1. LEARN: Gain deep insights into the root causes and daily challenges surrounding sexual and domestic violence.

2. ENGAGE: Network with individuals, non-profits, and corporate entities actively driving social change.

3. TAKE ACTION: Formulate concrete steps that individuals, local businesses, and institutions can take to foster safer communities.
