UNEP's Feb-March 2026 Reports, Events, Meetings & International Days coming up from UNEP, Partners & Stakeholders

What's Ahead: February – March 2026

2025 saw multilateral progress on environmental issues, with key negotiations at the seventh session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), as well as on plastic pollution that sought to advance key international processes. UNEP supported dozens of countries to ratify the landmark agreement to protect biodiversity in the high seas (BBNJ Agreement) which entered into force as international law in January 2026

At the same time, the world continued to face worsening climate impacts - 2025 was one of the three warmest years on record, continuing the streak of extraordinary global temperatures on both land and ocean.

In 2026, more urgent action is needed on multiple fronts. In the first quarter of the year, UNEP and partners will launch key reports and hold international meetings aimed at continuing the work to address climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste.

Below is a list of reports, events, meetings, and international days coming up from UNEP, partners, and stakeholders. Planned release dates are included where available.
