GCTDF made the announcement of Cynthia Nekesa as the winner of the inaugural Youth Conservation Tech Award, sponsored by the Mara Elephant Project. Selected from 48 submissions across Africa, she was recognized for developing a conservation-focused digital platform integrating technology to support environmental sustainability and knowledge preservation, and has been awarded a tailored internship with MEP.

The award forms part of the broader conversations taking place at GCTDF 2026 around scaling intelligence-led conservation. Day Two of the forum also highlighted Kenya's decisive shift toward institutionalising drone, AI, and real-time data systems across national conservation frameworks, with strong commitments from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), and MEP.

The forum continues through 6 March 2026, concluding with a Field Day at Konza Technopolis, where delegates will witness live drone demonstrations within Kenya's National Drone Corridor.
